Now, if you’re not here in Rapid City, South Dakota, you might not know that the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo starts next week. The stock show is the second biggest event in the Blackhills area, second only to Sturgis. So it’s kind of a big deal.
What does that have to do with embroidery you might ask? Well, a lot. But first let’s talk about branding.
In today’s world branding has a lot of meanings. It could mean the symbol that you use to mark your cattle or horses. It could mean the logo that you use to mark your business. Or in ancient Norse, it could mean fire. But it all comes down to one thing. Marking what’s yours.
Branding as we know it with the logos and the sayings started in the 1500s as a way for farmers to mark which cattle were theirs. To show ownership. And over the years it has involved into the logos that we recognize all over.
