The Story Behind National Ice Cream Day
National Ice Cream Day wasn’t created by an ice cream company. It was actually established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, who proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month and designated the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.
At the time, he noted that nearly 90% of Americans enjoyed ice cream and called it a “nutritious and wholesome food.” Whether or not your doctor agrees with that description today, we think it’s still a pretty great reason to celebrate!
